Utah SB 226 · Disclose AI to patients · Effective
AI Policy Act amendments for high-risk generative AI
Effective May 7, 2025
What the law does
Utah SB 226 replaced the broad generative-AI disclosure rule in SB 149 with a narrower one. Regulated occupations must still disclose computer-driven responses before using generative AI with a patient, but only when the use is high-risk: collecting sensitive personal data, or giving personalized recommendations that could drive medical, legal, financial, or mental health decisions. The amendments took effect May 7, 2025.
