What the law does
Colorado SB 24-205 (Chapter 198) creates duties for developers and deployers of high-risk AI systems that make consequential decisions, including decisions that affect the cost or terms of health care services or insurance. Covered parties must use reasonable care against algorithmic discrimination, complete impact assessments, and give consumers notice and an appeal path. SB 25B-004 delayed the original February 1, 2026 operative date to June 30, 2026. Later session activity has sought to replace or reshape the Act; confirm current status before relying on it for compliance.
