CVS Health announced on November 4, 2026 its intent to separate into two public companies: a healthcare solutions company (Aetna, CVS Caremark, CVS Specialty, Oak Street Health, Signify Health) and CVS Pharmacy (about 9,000 pharmacies, mail pharmacy, MinuteClinic and Health100). Completion is expected in the first half of 2028, intended to be tax-free and subject to board approval, an effective Form 10 and tax confirmation. As of September 30, 2026 the company reported about 9,000 retail pharmacies, more than 1,000 walk-in and primary care clinics, about 87 million PBM plan members and about 37 million people served by its insurance offerings.
