Main AI Act application date

About this milestone

Under Article 113 of the EU AI Act, the regulation applies from 2 August 2026, with earlier chapters already phased in (prohibitions and AI literacy from February 2025; governance, GPAI and penalties from August 2025). From this date, most remaining obligations apply, including Article 50 transparency rules for certain AI systems. Healthtech teams should treat this as the main go-live for product, labelling and deployer duties that were not already in force.
